About Us
Skylight Didn't Start as a brand. It started as a feeling.
Long before Skylight became what it is today, we were simply boaters at Lake Powell. Families, friends, early mornings at the ramp, long days chasing glassy water. Sunset coves. Campfire stories. Kids falling asleep with sunburned cheeks and smiles they couldn’t wipe off.
Where We Started
Skylight began as Skylight Boat Rentals, a family-run operation built on one simple belief: Lake Powell deserves respect, preparation, and care.
We weren’t interested in pushing boats out as fast as possible. We cared about the experience. About doing things right. About sending people onto the water confident, equipped, and excited.
Over the years, that approach put us face-to-face with thousands of real-world boating moments at Lake Powell—launch days, breakdowns, missed sunsets, delayed tows, and vacations cut short by preventable problems.
Eventually, something became impossible to ignore.
The Problem Nobody was Solving
Lake Powell is one of the most demanding boating environments in the country. Extreme heat. Long distances. Sudden wind. Remote coves. Limited parts access. Long tows back to the dock.
At the same time, surf boats were becoming more advanced, more expensive, and more technology-driven.
But the support infrastructure never evolved.
Surf boats were being treated like runabouts.
When something broke, owners were left scrambling.
When parts were needed, they were days away.
When problems arose, vacations ended early.
We saw it again and again—and we knew something had to change.
Why Skylight Exists
Protect The Experience.
The company's purpose is peace of mind, so owners and families can focus on time on the water, not problems.
Specialized Support.
There are no dedicated surf boat service centers at Lake Powell. Skylight is not a rental company or a general repair shop. It's a surf boat-specific support company built for this lake.
Preparation, Not Hope.
Everything is designed around prevention and readiness; Inspections, storage, parts availability, and on-water support. Lake Powell is not a place to wing it.
Our Team
Every technician, coordinator, and team member is here because boating is part of who we are. We’ve spent years on the water. Many of our best memories were made right here at Lake Powell. We know what it feels like to tow hundreds of miles for a single week of vacation—and how devastating it is when mechanical issues steal that time.
That’s why we obsess over the details.
That’s why we operate with standards we refuse to compromise.
That’s why we treat every boat like it carries someone’s most important memories.
Because it does.
